Join saxophonist, pianist, and composer Travis Sullivan for an evening celebrating his latest album, Existential Treat, performed live by the quintet featured on the recording.
Sullivan’s original compositions bring together contemporary jazz, lyrical melodies, intricate grooves, and open-ended improvisation. The distinctive pairing of voice and alto saxophone gives the ensemble a rich palette, with guitar, bass, and drums shaping music that moves between intimate passages and spirited interplay.
Featuring vocalist Tamuz Nissim, guitarist Giorgos Nazos, bassist Bryan Copeland, and drummer Joe Abba, this February 19 performance brings the album’s six original compositions to life in Jazz on Main’s intimate setting. Sullivan, also known for leading Travis Sullivan’s Björkestra, brings the same adventurous arranging sensibility to this quintet, with room for each musician’s individual voice.
