The New Quintet is a young jazz ensemble made up of five musicians, all under 22, bringing the spirit of the Young Lions into the present. Featuring saxophonists Lucious Crawford and Orion Weaver, McQuay Morton (piano), Ian Smith (bass), and Twizz Heath (drums), the group is rooted in the hard-swinging language of Hard Bop while embracing the energy, individuality, and spontaneity of a new generation.

The New Quintet is dedicated to carrying the jazz tradition forward. Their live performances are energetic, soulful, and highly improvisational, built around the chemistry and conversation among five young musicians as they discover where the music can go next.

The group has performed at venues including Carnegie Hall, Barclays Center, The Howard Theatre, Emmet’s Place, and Rudy’s Jazz Room, and continues to build a growing audience both onstage and online.

Now, The New Quintet is preparing to release their debut EP, French Fries & Ranch, a playful title for a project that captures the group's personality as much as its musicianship. The EP marks the beginning of a new chapter for the band and serves as the foundation for an upcoming live tour. Expect straight-ahead jazz, hard-driving swing, blues, deep grooves, and plenty of room for improvisation.
